Break through #3&4!!

Holy the last week has been crazy, but informative. Between naturopath appointments, massage appointments, lack of sleep, allergy flare ups and swimming lessons, we've pretty much been on the go and I've been reaserching like crazy.

I'll start with Avs allergies, a few weeks ago the left side of her nose broke out into what I thought was a heat rash, and when it didn't go down after a few days I thought maybe she was touching something and touching her face after that was bugging her, then eczema crossed my mind, then I thought it could be like like a teething rash maybe? I kept putting lanoline on it and that didn't really help, then I put eczema cream on it and nothing. Then I thought maybe it was an allergic reaction to her bubble bath so we stopped using that and it kept getting worse. I was so stumped, I washed everything she touches all day, gave her oat meal baths and those did absolutely nothing. Then I thought maybe it's a reaction to the pool water after swimming, but she's been to the pool lots and it's never come up. We're going on 3 weeks with this itchy red rash and it flares up over night.. I feel so bad for her, so I was researching Naturopath doctors in our area and I looked into the one my parents took me to when I was young to find out that I'm allergic to eggs and dairy! So as I'm checking out his website, I come across this wicked cool test he does for the brain!!!! It's a neurotransmitter test, it tests out all the neurotransmitters in your brain to see if they're getting what they need to work properly.. and mine are kinda messy after my accident, so I thought this could be cool to try! So I inquired about it and he said it could definitely be beneficial to my case. If they find that my body is lacking a specific amino acid or protein that supports the messages being sent to my left hand, he could prescribe me that amino acid or protein and in theory it should eventually level out and be normal again..... like what!!!! Super crazy how far science has come to beable to look into the body that deep! And all it is, is a simple pee test!!! I mean obviously it's not going to be some magic pill that fixes everything, it all depends on what they find in the test. So I'm really hoping they find something so that we can work on this hand 🫣

Anyway, I got distracted. So back to Av, I booked her into see him last Friday and he basiclaly said that because I am allergic to dairy and eggs that she is most likely allergic as well, so we need to cut that out immediately and to maybe just cut out wheat too just in case, then reintroduce it all again later in her life to see if she reacts again.. there's also a blood allergy test that we're gunna do, it tests 100 foods to find out forsure what she's allergic to, but we're still cutting everything out until we know forsure what she can and can't have to help out her poor itchy face. Cutting those foods out for a toddler that's been used to specific things everyday has been HARD, getting creative has been tough too. I'm so happy that there's so many alternatives out there to support this new allergy diet but like, it's a matter of if she's going to like these things.. and so far, she hasn't. And then the no cows milk threw us for a loop, she usually has a bowl of yogurt with rice cereal before bed and then an 8oz bottle of whole milk to keep her full for the night so she'll sleep a good stint, and if not sleep the whole night.. so imagine my disappointment when he said to cut dairy completely. She hates the coconut yogurt alternative and so far hates the unsweetened oatmilk. We have yet to try soy, and coconut milk, But now at least we know we can mix it into a smoothie that she'll eat and not know the difference! It's definitely going to be a learning curve and learning to adapt on both of our parts.

We're only on day 2 and it's been rough on both of us, I had a break down lastnight, her face was so flared up, she had a diaper rash starting, and she didn't like the dinner I hand made for her. I felt like such a bad mom, I didn't have the answers to make her feel more comfortable in her own body and I can't even feed her food that she likes because she's not allowed. I'm really trying, ive also become super reliant on things being repetitive and schedulized and with this new curve ball it's the complete opposite and my brain just couldn't handle it all I guess, too much change. So I broke finally lastnight, thank god for Josh. Like I am so beyond lucky to have such a supportive, understanding, and loving and of course good humoured man in my life. He stopped me from crying lastnight and just made me laugh. Thank god for him.

Another breakthrough I had this week, was I was talking with a woman that also has a tbi and she told me about vision therapy. This was not the first time I've heard of this, I've had a few people tell me it might be beneficial. It can help work on restoring balance, peripheral vision issues, my spatial awareness issue and a whole whack more. Turns out I have to do the initial 75 minute assessment in kelowna and then they can do the rest of the follow up treatments in town which is amazing. So im definitely booking that come spring time!! Im attaching their link so if you want you can check it out too!

And here's the neurotransmitter test link!!

Im just SO blown away by how far science has come to beable to look into this stuff and help fix these issues, im especially blown away by this neurotransmitter test. Im waiting for him to get the test in and then we'll move forward with it but like wowowow. And im just so grateful that they do allergy testing like this on kids this young. Im so relieved that Av will have some relief here in the coming weeks!

Over all im just feeling really hopeful for the both of us! Fingers crossed it all works out positively ♥️
